The Assam Valley School successfully completed its IAYP (International Award for Young People) adventurous journey with a team of 43 students accompanied by three escort teachers on an enriching two-day expedition from 4th to 5th November, 2025 to Shergaon near Arunachal Pradesh.
The journey offered students valuable insights into resilience, teamwork, and adapting to challenging environments. It compriaed a trek to the ancient Zenbu Gompa, located nearly 5 km from their stay, trek to picturesque Chokso Rong Waterfall and North India’s largest apple farm, home to almost 40 varieties of apples.
The final visit was to the Chilipam Monastery with the majestic statue of Lord Buddha.
Throughout the trip, the students interacted with local residents and gained an understanding of how people in the region adapt to the cold climate and sustain themselves through farming.
The expedition was not only adventurous but also deeply educational—an unforgettable experience that truly embodied the spirit of the IAYP programme.
