Question 1

What is the fee structure at AVS for the current academic session?

Accepted Answer

The fee structure at The Assam Valley School is reviewed every year and depends on the student's grade and residential status. Since the fee structure contains elements such as boarding fees, development fees, and deposits that keep fluctuating, we would advise you to check the official fee page at AVS or contact the admissions department directly at admissions@assamvalleyschool.com for the latest details.

Question 2

What is the rank of Assam Valley School?

Accepted Answer

AVS has recently reached a monumental achievement by being declared the No. 1 Co-Educational Boarding School in India in the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2025-26. It has been holding the first position in Assam and the Northeast region as well. This is based on the school’s performance in terms of the competence of its faculty, infrastructure, and mental well-being of the students.

Question 3

How to get admission in the Assam Valley School?

Accepted Answer

The process begins with the registration of your child for the Entrance Test, which holds a total weightage of 80% in the selection process. The students are assessed in English, Mathematics, General Awareness, and a second language. If they qualify in the written test, there is an interview (remaining 20%), which includes the parents as well. It is a merit-based process that aims to check whether the child will be able to perform well in a residential setup.

Question 4

Is Assam Valley School CBSE or ICSE?

Accepted Answer

The school is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). This implies that the ICSE curriculum is adopted for Class 10, while the ISC curriculum is adopted for Class 12. Even the Lower School follows the CISCE curriculum, ensuring a smooth transition. It is a great choice for parents who wish to have in-depth knowledge and a substantial emphasis on the English language, which is a major aspect associated with the ICSE board.

Question 5

Is Assam Valley a boarding school?

Accepted Answer

Yes, AVS is a fully residential boarding school. Unlike “day-cum-boarding” schools, where students return home every day, all students at AVS stay within the campus premises in specially allocated boarding houses. This “exclusive” boarding system is what enables the school to offer such a packed schedule of activities, ranging from sports in the early morning hours to supervised study sessions in the evenings.

Question 6

Why is Assam Valley School considered one of the best co-ed residential schools in India?

Accepted Answer

It is unique because it not only treats “co-ed” as a badge, but it also fosters a mature environment where boys and girls work together as equals on 235 acres of world-class infrastructure. As a Round Square school, AVS focuses on global citizenship and adventure. With Olympic-standard sports grounds to premium arts education, it provides a level of networking that few schools in Asia can offer.

Question 7

What is a residential school in India?

Accepted Answer

In the Indian scenario, a residential school, also known as a boarding school, is a place where students stay in the school premises during the duration of the term. It is not just a place to learn; it is a way of life. In a school like AVS, this translates to students eating, sleeping, and growing up together, learning the skills of living independently that last a lifetime.
