Dramatics

Theatre is a collaborative form of performing art that uses live performers, typically actors or actresses, to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place, often a stage. Elements of art, such as costumes, props and set; stagecraft such as lighting or sound effects are used to enhance the physicality, presence and immediacy of the experience.

Participation in drama-based activities helps students develop important life skills such as dedication, perseverance, commitment, teamwork and a sense of fair play. Music, theatre, speech and debate activities are ideal for developing what has been called the Four Cs of 21st century skills – critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity.

We have an English Theatrical Society open to all students ably guided by the faculty members. It is designed for students interested in learning more about the aspects of theatre like learning stage terminology, working on acting skills, writing scripts, set building, and costumes/makeup design.

The activity happens throughout the year and the two major events organised are the Inter House Original Play Competition and the Founders’ Play. We also have regular workshops and guest performances from reputed theatre groups form India and abroad.
