Library Staff

THE ASSAM VALLEY SCHOOL LIBRARY

The Assam Valley School Library is a part and parcel of the school. The AVS library is a hub of all activities going on in the school and at the same time it has become the centre of informal education. Students and teachers use it for education, information, recreation and inspiration.

The library staff ensures that the library performs the basic function of acquiring and organizing learning resources and providing facilities and services to the readers effectively.

AVS Library is fully air-conditioned and is stocked with over 18000 books and non-book materials covering a variety of vocations, opening up a vast world knowledge to its students and teachers.

FACULTY MEMBERS

Mr. Chauhan, B.A. (Mathematics), Diploma in Computer Science & M. Lib. I. Sc., has joined AVS in 1995. Prior to AVS, he worked as a documentation officer, Librarian at M/s D.K. Agencies, New Delhi and Army Public School, Sagar respectively. His achievement was the establishment of the AVS digital library. Mr. Chauhan was a housemaster at AVS from 2007 – 2009 in Lohit House. During his tenure of three years as a housemaster, his house had been elected the “Best House” for the two consecutive years. As a MIC, Cricket, his players have represented District and State. One of his players represented state in Vijay Merchant Trophy and many players playing for Districts. He is also the Master-In-Charge of the AVS Photographic Society. His photographers’ works have been published in various newspapers and magazines. One of his students, Prateek Modi (ISC- 2013) was the winner from India in Paigaam Peace – Photo Contest (Paigaam Peace Foundation, Luther College, Iowa, USA) in the year 2012. His interests include cricket, photography, reading, travelling and mountaineering.

Mrs. Borah joined AVS in the year 1996. At present she is working in the AVS library and also a tutor of a girls’ hostel. She enjoys working in the library and loves to see children of different ages having interest for varied subjects. Her father was in the Indian Air Force and has done schooling from different parts of India. She has graduated from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi and has done one year course of Certificate in Library & Information Science from Guwahati University, Assam.
