Girls Houses

Girls Houses

There are eight boarding houses at AVS – four for the boys and four for the girls. These houses are clubbed together as brother and sister houses for Inter-House events.

The Brother /Sister House combinations are: –

SISTER HOUSE BROTHER HOUSE
JINARI MANAS
SUBANSIRI NAMDANG
KOPILI DHANSIRI
BHOROLI LOHIT

The Girls’ Houses are called Sister Houses. In addition to the 8 boarding houses, there is a girls’ holding house called ‘Tihu’ where girls from Classes 5 to 8 are accommodated.

Bhoroli House

A House tracing its roots back to 1995, Bhoroli is the oldest girls’ boarding house at The Assam Valley School. Bhoroli is more than a living space for every Bhorolite. It is more of a feeling of the blue blood running in our veins; it is a consciousness reminding each of us to follow the right path; it is also a feeling of belonging to a home. Our motto is ‘Ever Onward’ and all Bhoroli girls believe that we must always keep moving forward by overcoming all obstacles that come in our way. Bhorolites have shown their talents in every field like academics, culture and sports and in recent years the girls have really excelled in the cultural field. A house comprising of passionate debaters, melodious singers, graceful dancers as well as notable actors and all this is pursued with grace and elegance in their behaviour.

Jinari House

Jinarians create an environment so welcoming, helpful and motivating that the girls feel proud to call it home. The Reds embody the very motto of their House, ‘Perseverance’ as they go through the ups and downs that each day presents. The senior students guide rather than admonish and, in this way, make each member from grade five onwards feel special to want to give their best. The one thing that stands out about Jinari is the belief that every member has something to offer and this encourages the juniors and the seniors alike to not just engage in new activities but also discover their hidden talents. Jinari supports the idea of the holistic development of girls as opposed to turning them into specialists in a single field. These youngsters draw their strength from the motto of the House. Different individuals come together to form the identity of the House which is a breath-taking myriad of talent, skills, and emotions.

Kopili House

Kopili was founded in 1998 with the house motto, “To strive, To seek and To never give up”. The Kopili girls personify this motto with their resilience and unyielding dedication towards the House. Green, the colour of the house, depicts the growth, vitality and renewal which encompasses self-reliance and dependability. Kopili provides its girls with the bedrock where self-reliance and camaraderie are fostered. Kopilites come to understand that independence and interdependence complement each other and they do so with dynamism and an obvious sense of fun.

A Kopilite can be who she wants and be appreciated for it. Above all, Kopili believes that it is imperative to encourage girls to have an independent mind. The House gives the world lionesses with strong beliefs and morals, which are deeply rooted in societal conscience. The boarding house is well equipped with all the modern amenities necessary for a comfortable boarding life. From spontaneous jam sessions in the gazebo to gathering in the rooms after a long day, we are proud to say that Kopili has been somewhere where the girls have created some of their fondest memories.

Subansiri House

Success is anchored on a resolute mindset and approach, and this is what the Suzeknights believe in. They tread towards the fruition of their goals with optimism and determination. Yellow, the colour of the house, signifies sunshine, vivacity, positivity and most importantly resilience. “Dare to Excel” is the House motto and the girls take up every challenge with tenacity and dedication in all spheres of school life. The positivity that emanates from the sylvan campus of The Assam Valley School is the muse which inspires the Suzeknights. They are filled with the desire to give their best in everything. They believe that together they will be able to scale any mountain. This is what sets the Subansiri girls apart from the rest.
