Hindi Department Activities

The Hindi Department provides ample opportunities to the children of The Assam Valley School. This helps them attain an all-round development. These activities consist of both curricular and co-curricular activities.  Children are encouraged to pursue various activities which are conducted in Hindi. Some of the popular activities include Debating, Creative Writing and Dramatics. Engaging in such activities help enhance various skills, such as public speaking and higher order critical thinking. A plethora of activities allows each child to explore and find their inner selves. The Hindi Department believes that critical thinking, complemented by a creative mind, would be the true hallmark of a citizen of the 21st century.

Public speaking is an essential skill to be learnt by a student. A majority of the activities concentrate on developing this particular skill of the students. The Hindi dramatics activity provides opportunities to children to learn skills such as oral communication skills, creative problem solving abilities, motivation and commitment, willingness to work with a team and even emotional intelligence.

Students frequently get opportunities to participate in stage performances or street plays on various occasions. We also organize Hindi poetry recitation competition among students at upper school and lower school level. Reciting poetry helps place emphasis on the sound and the rhythm of language, thus building a child’s phonemic awareness and solidifying a foundation for reading abilities.

The wide range of activities offered by the Hindi Department is something that students really look forward to. Mixing learning with these activities also ensures that our students develop a passion for the language.
