On the 24th of April, 2024, 34 IAYP (International Award for Young People) aspirants of both silver and bronze levels went on a two-night adventure camp to Nameri. This adventure camp aimed to fulfil the “Adventure” category that is required for every aspirant to accomplish. The students were accompanied by 3 teachers. The first stop of this adventurous journey was Sessa Orchid Sanctuary, Arunachal Pradesh where the students could see various varieties of orchids such as Vanilla Orchid, Cattleya and Vanda to name a few. After witnessing the mesmerizing view of River Kameng from the orchid park itself, they set off to our adventure camp.The trip also included a 5 km trek and rafting. Post that, they visited a Mising and a Nepali village nearby that gave them an insight into how different cultures live. The trip with an educational demonstration on how to set up their own tents, how to go about emergency procedures in mountain treks and how to make their own makeshift stretchers. Overall, it was a great experience for all and it helped accomplish the IAYP objectives.
