The pandemic merely delayed the very prestigious Headmaster’s Gold Medal Debate and with senior students back on campus, the 5th of February saw twelve students vying for that coveted prize. Not only did we run it on the traditional Oxford format but we also went a step further and incorporated the physical aspects of the debate which made it a new experience. Given only a couple of hours to prepare, the debaters put their arguments forward on why balance was more important than excellence in one field and indeed managed to convince the judges with some very convincing constructs.
Aryan Khatuwala was adjudged third best speaker, Humraj Singh Jassal took second place and Naviya Chamariya walked away with the gold medal.
Ex Masters in-Charge of Debating at AVS, Mr. Mathew P. John and Dr. Dilip K. Panda together with alumni and winner of the first Gold
Medal, Saher Ahmed, made the event that much more special by agreeing to be the judges.
