With the spotlight illuminating talent and imagination, the Inter-House One-Act Play Competition 2026 unfolded as a remarkable showcase of theatrical excellence. Through nuanced performances, evocative narratives, and impeccable teamwork, each house demonstrated the transformative power of the dramatic arts, leaving the audience enriched, moved, and inspired.
The competition culminated in a well-deserved victory for Subansiri-Namdang House while Jinari-Manas House secured the runners-up position. Kopili- Dhansiri House, claimed third place, followed by Bhoroli-Lohit House in fourth position. The competition was graced by Dr. Asha Kothari Chaudhary, Professor & Former Chair, Department of English at Guwahati University. She is the former Director, Centre for Performing Art & Culture, Guwahati University. The other two eminent judges were Mr. Abhinav B. Gogoi, Career Consultant & Global Education Specialist and Mr. Ranjeev Lal Baruah who is Guwahati based theatre director, actor, drama educator and entrepreneur with a distinguished career spanning decades in theatre, films and television.
Individual brilliance shone equally bright, with Spriha Kashyap receiving the Best Actor award and Mayuri Bordoloi being recognised as the Most Promising Actor.
More than a competition, the evening was a celebration of creativity, dedication, and collaborative spirit—an inspiring testament to theatre’s unique ability to tell stories, evoke emotions, and bring communities together.
