World Environment Day 2026

The celebration began with a special assembly, featuring an inspiring talk by Dr Debjani Borah from the Pygmy Hog Conservation Programme. Through her engaging narration of the remarkable journey of the Pygmy Hog Conservation Programme, she captivated the audience and highlighted the importance of protecting endangered species and their habitats.

The assembly was conducted by Dr Hemashree Deka, Head of the EVS Department, who spoke about this year’s World Environment Day theme and encouraged everyone to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.

Adding an international dimension to the event, the assembly was also attended by our resource persons from the United States, who are currently spending a fortnight at AVS conducting workshops for our students.

To mark the occasion, students showcased eco-bricks made from plastic waste, demonstrating innovative ways of reducing environmental pollution and promoting responsible waste management.

The celebrations concluded with a meaningful tree plantation drive, during which students and teachers planted 60 saplings, commemorating 60 years of Round Square and reaffirming AVS’s commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable future.
