‘Where words fail, music & poetry speak.’ Poetry and music have been intertwined for thousands of years. Music & Poetry are the highest level of human mind that have helped humans develop the idea of the divine and be in communion with the Almighty.
With an endeavour to connect music & poetry with the soul transcending from the physical realm to the divine, The AVS RS Committee invited delegates of age group 16-18 years to be a part of this mystic experience themed ‘Nirgun- Music & Poetry for Soul’ based on the Discoveries of Inquisitiveness; Appreciation for diversity; Self-awareness; Inventiveness.
175+ delegates from 26 schools across 8 countries came together on 26 January evening to share their experiences and express their feelings about music and poetry.
The Keynote Speaker/Performer, for the opening session Mrs. Sunita Bhuyan, an Indo-fusion violinist and vocalist accompanied by her son, Ronojit Bhuyan, a passionate pianist and an Ex-Aviator, transported us from the physical realm to the divine world.
It was mesmerising to see the duo blend Robert Burns, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Rumi through their recitations. And what was even more enchanting was their live performances on ‘Ekla chalo’, Indian rendition of ‘My heart will go on…’, ‘Gangaa tu beheti hai kyun…’ and the seven musical notes intertwined into the Indian classical and Western fusion.
The Barraza sessions reverberated with peals of joy and sentiments of personal anecdotes thereby, breaking all mental shackles and coming together to share stories of how music and poetry have impacted individuals.
Finally, the event closed with Headmaster Dr. Vimal expressing his views on the theme and how it has always been relevant across time and age, especially in the current distressing scenario.
35 students led by Mrs. Sagarika Dutta, Mr. Umesh Singh and Round square Representative Dr. Pooja Jain, brought this event together as an opportunity for everyone who witnessed the mystically musical evening.
